Selfie :)

Our first day of Photography class in the basement of Studios Marios is completed :) and we were assigned a "selfie". A photo of ourselves, to express ourselves. Something we thought captured our essence, here on the island. 

I chose this photo because I wanted you all to see how I perceive myself--especially here. I love the water and whenever I travel (which is usually tropical paradises thanks to my parents!)..I find myself immediately attracted to the water. (Or, the beach I suppose!) Here, it is beautiful. I cannot get over the beauty in everything here. I am VERY blessed. Something about the water makes me happy; Maybe its because it can be beautiful and calm, or strong and wild, frustrated, peaceful, and joyful. Often all at the same time. I feel that way about my life, I can relate to its peacefulness..its happiness, its ability to be calm (even when a storm may be brewing), its strength, and even its frustrations.. I wanted to show my relationship to the element. You may not get that by taking one look at this picture, however, here I am happy, calm, blessed, everything I would want to be. And then there is the water, faded in the background yet bright, calm, and gorgeous. Everything we want it to be [on an island with a beach!].

Maybe this makes sense? Maybe it doesn't. Either way, I hope you enjoy the photos I'll be posting for you.

P.S--I'll get better at this whole photography thing. And hopefully expressions as well.
