White Balance

Today for class we read about white balance in relation to exposure. We learned the different options for our cameras, what they mean, where to find them, and how to use them while taking photos to help create the best exposed picture. We were also asked to play with the aperture, shutter speed, and the other things we have been learning while keeping in mind white balance.

We had a cloudy and very rainy day here on the island so in relation to White Balance, we sort of had a "good" day to experiment.

Here is what I have for you.

 Aperture 8
Shutter Speed 1/2000
ISO 800
White Balance: Daylight
 Aperture 6.3
Shutter Speed 1/4000
ISO 800
White Balance: Tungsten
This photo is almost exactly the same as the one above it; how is it different? Obviously the coloring, right? Because I used the daylight option for white balance, (it was the middle of the day) I decided that based on the rain, the cloudiness, the droopiness, and sense of mystery, dryness, dreary, and unisland like if you will, I wanted my picture to portray that. I wanted you to look at this and wonder why the color? It couldn't really have looked this way right? I mean, I'm on the island of Santorini... in beautiful Greece! I changed to Tungsten to give that blueish, dark, lighting. I didn't use the cloudy option because it probably would have aided the photo and its exposure, here I attempted to create a story or sense of wonder for you.
Neat right? Being able to change things on your camera to create your own story. :)
 Aperture 5
Shutter Speed 1/1000
ISO 800
White Balance: Cloudy
 Aperture 5
Shutter Speed 1/500
ISO 200
White Balance: Cloudy
Aperture 5.6
Shutter Speed 1/3200
ISO 800
White Balance: Cloudy

As for the rest of the photos, I used a lot of the same settings while only changing one to help create a good exposure.

Today was a drowsy day, lots of rain and not enough sunshine! However, we were still able to explore and take in the island with a different perspective.

I can't believe I'm here. An entire week has already flown by! It doesn't seem like I even have that many photos yet? But hey, who takes a gazillion pictures of their home right? This is home for me, for another three weeks. But don't worry...I'll make sure to capture everything you need to see.

Peace & Blessings
Ps. I love you mom! :)
